You cannot get to the finished art in my process without getting the raw materials. My raw materials are logs, covered with bark that otherwise would be used for firewood. Instead of letting them fall to this fate, I cut the logs with a chainsaw and later a band saw to blanks that can be dried, mounted to the lathe and shaped into a thing of beauty. The whole point if my art is to find the natural beauty of a piece of wood. My art is continually evolving as new skills are picked up. Sometimes the jumping off point for learning a new skill is a class with a subject matter expert. Other times my art evolves thru developing a new tool and the experience of learning how to use it. All of these things have contributed to the evolution of my art as you see it today.
