Down Draft Table or Sanding table.

A perforated table connected to a vacuum system so that the dust can collected

I started out by rabbiting the top edge of the sides of the box 1/4" x 3/8" and the bottom edge of the sides 1/2" x 3/8". Next I drilled the hole for the hose fitting with a circle cutter.

I then mitered the corners of the sides, cut the plywood for the bottom and assembled the box with construction adhesive and staples. The pneumatic stapler made this a breeze.

The next step is to cut the luane to fit the box. Then glue and staple it to the support structure.

At this time I glued and screwed the hose fitting in place.

The next step is to install the support structure for the pegboard with glue and staples.

This is another view of the support structure for the pegboard.

This is a close up of the 4" hose fitting for the dust collector.

This is a close up view of the pegboard support structure.

This photo is of the completed down draft table connected to the dust collector and ready to use. You can increase the dust collection ability by covering unused areas of the table with old mouse pads.
